Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ordering for Christmas, collecting, our sourcing, and more.

Ordering & Payment

How do I place an order?

Christmas orders are placed in our online shop. Browse the Christmas counters and add your turkey, joints and trimmings to your basket, then choose your collection day and collection point in the basket before you check out. You pay securely by card at the checkout when you place your order. Joints that are cut to weight take a deposit at that point, with the balance due once we have weighed them, paid at the counter when you collect or ahead of time if you prefer; everything else is paid in full.

Can I order by phone?

Absolutely. Call us on 0151 645 3044 during opening hours and we will be happy to take your order over the phone. We can also help with bespoke requests and special cuts.

Do you deliver Christmas orders?

No. Christmas orders are collection only — there is no delivery this Christmas. You choose one of our three collection points (New Ferry, Delifonseca, Brimstage Courtyard) and a collection day when you order, and there is no charge for collecting. Our full everyday range, including local delivery, returns in January.

Can I modify or cancel my order?

Call us on 0151 645 3044 or email orders@edgebutchers.co.uk as soon as you can. You can cancel a Christmas order and have your deposit back up to 1 December; after that the deposit is non-refundable. If something has changed, ring us anyway — we would rather hear from you than not.

Collection

Where and when do I collect?

You choose both when you order. Our collection points are New Ferry, Delifonseca, Brimstage Courtyard, and the collection days are: Monday 21 December, 8am – 5pm; Tuesday 22 December, 8am – 5pm; Wednesday 23 December, 8am – 5pm; Thursday 24 December, 8am – 1pm. Christmas Eve is a short day. Full addresses are on our Christmas page, and your collection day and point are recorded on your order.

What do I need to bring?

Just your order confirmation — on your phone is fine. If your order includes a deposit line, the balance is due once we have weighed your joint. You can pay it at the counter when you collect, and we take card there, or ahead of time if you prefer. If a joint comes to less than its deposit, we refund the difference when you collect. To pay ahead, call us on 0151 645 3044 or email orders@edgebutchers.co.uk once it has been weighed and we will send you a secure payment link.

What if I cannot collect on my chosen day?

Please call us on 0151 645 3044 as soon as you know. Our Christmas chillers are full and we cannot hold orders over, so we would much rather move your day in advance than have your order waiting.

Our Meat & Sourcing

Where does your meat come from?

We partner with local farms, typically within 25 miles of our butchery. All our livestock is native breed, free-range, and pasture-fed. We have direct relationships with every farmer we work with.

What does 'native breed' mean?

Native breeds are traditional British livestock breeds that have been raised in the UK for centuries, such as Hereford and Longhorn cattle, Saddleback pigs, and Welsh Mountain sheep. They are prized for superior flavour, marbling, and ethical husbandry.

Do you do whole animal butchery?

Yes, we are whole-carcass butchers. Every animal is broken down in-house by our team. This means less waste, better value, and cuts you simply cannot get from a supermarket.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes. We offer gluten-free sausages and sausage meat. If you have other dietary requirements, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Is your meat halal?

No, our meat is not halal certified. All our animals are stunned before slaughter in accordance with UK welfare standards.

Masterclasses & Events

What are butchery masterclasses?

Our hands-on classes teach you the art of butchery, from breaking down a whole chicken to preparing a rib of beef. Sessions are led by our experienced butchers in our purpose-built workshop.

Do I need any experience?

Not at all. Our classes cater to all levels, from complete beginners to confident home cooks looking to refine their skills. We provide all equipment and materials.

Can I book a masterclass as a gift?

Yes, masterclass gift vouchers are available. They make a unique and memorable gift for food lovers.

Do you offer private group sessions?

We do. Private masterclasses are available for corporate events, stag and hen parties, birthday celebrations, and team building. Contact us to discuss your requirements.

Trade & Wholesale

Do you supply restaurants?

Yes, we supply some of the North West's finest restaurants with whole-carcass, native breed meat. Visit our Trade page or contact orders@edgebutchers.co.uk to discuss your needs.

Can you provide bespoke cuts for chefs?

Absolutely. Because we butcher whole carcasses in-house, we can provide any cut to your exact specification, including portions not available through standard suppliers.
